Global Economic Conditions Survey: Economic Confidence among global accountants improved again in Q2 2024, despite a big drop in the US
The Global Economic Conditions Survey (GECS) of Second Quarter 2024, conducted by the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and the IMA® (Institute of Management Accountants), offers exciting insights into the global economic situation and the sentiment among financial experts worldwide.
Global Confidence with Regional Differences
The survey results show that global confidence among accountants and financial experts increased slightly in Q2 2024, just above the historical average.
In Western Europe, there was a slight increase in confidence in line with the ongoing economic recovery in the Eurozone and the United Kingdom, while North America experienced a sharp decline. The Asia-Pacific region is benefiting from improvements in the global economy, including the manufacturing and technology sectors, and is seeing a slight increase in confidence.
The global “fear” indicators have eased in the last quarter.
A Look at the CFO Perspective
The survey shows that confidence among CFOs increased significantly in the second quarter, slightly above the historical average. The Capital Expenditure Index recorded one of the largest increases, indicating a greater willingness to invest. Despite these positive signs, concerns about rising operating costs remain.
These Are the Main Concerns
The survey also highlights the biggest concerns of financial experts. In addition to economic uncertainties and rising operating costs, cybersecurity is becoming increasingly important.
The GECS report provides valuable insights into the current economic situation and prospects for the coming months. Curious? Take a look at the details of the GECS Q2 2024 and download the full report here: https://eu.imanet.org/about-ima/gecs
